Mercury is a powerful neurotoxin. Depending on the form and degree of exposure, Mercury can cause profound neurological damage and disastrous health problems such as Autism, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Lung Damage, and Parkinson’s Disease. Case control studies have shown effects from mercury exposure like, tremors, impaired cognitive skills and sleep disturbances in workers with chronic exposure to mercury vapor, even at low concentrations. Research shows that even in small amounts, Mercury suppresses our immune system, causing damage to our blood cells, glands and enzymes. It can target the liver and pituitary gland, and is also associated with more subtle symptoms of erethrism, (excessive shyness and social phobia), including fatigue, irritability, loss of memory, vivid dreams and depression. Over exposure also results in baldness, paraesthesia ( a pricking, tingling, or creeping sensation in the skin), and blurred vision.
Deposits of Mercury in the bodies of Americans are increasing at alarming rates. Scientists have found Mercury contamination in our, air, land, sea, mouth, brain and fetuses from many sources, including our food. Let’s look at the sources……..
Mercury fillings (also called amalgams) are one of the greatest scams in the history of dentistry. They are intentionally and misleadingly named “silver fillings” so that people don’t realize they are made of Mercury. In 2008, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), reluctantly declared Mercury-based fillings to have neurotoxin effects on children. Then the FDA reversed it’s claim a year later when it declared that Mercury fillings were safe. The FDA’s opinion their link to debilitating diseases like Autism and Alzheimer’s.

It is well documented that amalgam fillings give off Mercury vapors, even after decades of service as a cavity filling. Although it is known that small amounts of Mercury are vaporized and can be inhaled when the fillings are used to chew food, and though Canada, France and Sweden have all placed restrictions on the use of mercury fillings, the FDA insisted that amalgams were safe. Mercury from fillings in pregnant women has been shown to cause Mercury accumulation in the brain, kidney and liver of human fetuses (all of the areas tested). Other studies have shown that mercury can be passed on to infants from breast milk.

In 2009, several petitioners asked the FDA to reconsider their stance on Mercury fillings, reversing their stance back to their original assessment of toxicity.

After 35 years of Mercury fillings ingrained in my teeth, I had them removed by a dentist in Toronto, Canada. He was well aware of the toxic danger, and was well equipped with a gas mask and the vapor vacuum while removing them from my mouth. Just make sure that when you have your Mercury fillings extracted, it is with a dentist who knows the correct and safe procedure when removing them. Activated charcoal taken immediately with liquid chlorella, 15 minutes before drilling out amalgam, will bind any swallowed mercury and also prevent recirculation in the liver. Refrain from taking any supplements that contain any iron or copper. Mercury amalgam removal alone does not put an end to the Mercury poisoning. The Mercury which leaked from the fillings in the mouth is stored in cells throughout the body and continues to exert its damaging effects. It is not unusual to see patients who have had their amalgam fillings removed and replaced 10-15 years prior to testing still have elevated levels of Mercury in the body. Once Mercury toxicity has been demonstrated by tests such as, high electrogalvanism, high Mercury vapor emissions, Mercury amalgam removal and replacement with alternative, non toxic materials is the recommended step. Botanical substances to assist in removing the Mercury include, cilantro and chlorella which are particularly effective. Also, saunas (infrared) are a useful adjunct to safe Mercury removal because they induce copious sweating. Just make sure to hydrate adequately before and after your 30 minutes of sauna time and replace electrolytes lost to perspiration with grape or prune juice and drink vegetable juices to replace calcium and magnesium lost through the skin.

Thousands of tons of Mercury are carried off to our waterways through the air, as a byproduct of coal-burning power plants and battery manufacturers. When it reaches the lakes and sea, it’s broken down by bacteria and changed to a poisonous compound known as Methyl Mercury. The National Academy of Sciences (NeuroToxicology 2001), estimates that Methyl Mercury puts 60,000 newborns at risk each year for neurological damage based on their exposure to this toxin in the womb. Mercury is volatile, vaporous and passes from the placenta to mothers milk.

Until recently, the FDA didn’t even warn women and young children (who are at the greatest risk) about the dangers of tuna. When they did, they completely left out tuna steak from their warning, which contains even greater levels of Methyl Mercury Contaminant than canned tuna. The tuna industry is a powerful lobby, and the FDA is their puppet. According to the EPA’s standard, a 45 pound child eating just one 6oz can of white chunk albacore tuna weekly, receives almost 4 times the Mercury than is considered safe. In 2001, the FDA issued a mercury advisory for pregnant women and young children to avoid eating shark, swordfish,, king mackerel and tilefish. They warned pregnant women about certain predator fish, except albacore tuna……..something smells fishy to me!!!!! .

Research published in Environmental Health has revealed that High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is contaminated with toxic Mercury. For those who understand holistic nutrition, they would agree that HFCS promotes diabetes and obesity, (another valid reason to avoid this “processed” sweetener in ALL products). Mercury is found in thousands of grocery products all across the world. It is no exaggeration to say that consumers of popular food items are likely suffering from widespread Mercury Poisoning. A study conducted by David Wallinga, M.D ( http://www.iatp.org/iatp/publications.cfm?refid=105026 ) revealed that of 55 brand name products tested with HFCS, 1 in 3 were contaminated with Mercury. Name brands like Quaker, Hunts, Manwich, Hershey’s, Smuckers, Kraft, Nutri Grain and Yoplait. HFCS can be found in snack bars, BBQ sauce, yogurt, chocolate syrup, soda pop, strawberry jelly, ketchup, chocolate milk, candy and the list goes on……

So where does all the Mercury come from?? Most people don’t know how HFCS is really made. One of those processes is a bizarre chemical brew involving Mercury Grade Caustic Soda, (also known as sodium hydroxide or lye), and a number of other food industry ingredients that are produced in industrial chlorine plants. “Mercury Grade”, also known as “Rayon Grade Caustic Soda”, comes from chlorine plants still using an outdated 19th century technology that relies on the use of Mercury. When corn kernels are exposed to this caustic soda to break them down, that contamination is passed through to the HFCS (Another toxic chemical, glutaraldehyde, is also used in the production of HFCS. It is so toxic that consuming even small amounts of it, can burn a hole in your stomach.)

The Corn Refiners Association insists that HFCS is a “natural” ingredient. The CRA is lying to you. There is nothing natural about processed food ingredients made with toxic chemicals!!! Let’s get real!
It has been suggested that in the US, an alarming increase in diagnosable Autism may be attributable to the routine use of thimorosal, a Mercury containing preservative used in several frequently recommended vaccines for children. In July 1999, a joint statement was issued to the medical community by the US Public Health Service and The American Academy of Pediatrics expressing concern over this issue. Autism was formerly diagnosed in 1 to 3 children for every 10,000 births. Today, the frequency of diagnosed Autism has risen to 20 to 40 per 10,000 births and reports of 1 per 150 births in several states including New Jersey and California.
By purchasing grocery products laden with HFCS, compact fluorescent light bulbs, amalgam fillings and thimerosal laden vaccines, you are supporting the production of Mercury and the destruction of human health and the environment.
