For Centuries, salt has been an extraordinarily valuable food preservative for most cultures in the world. Natural salt contains a vast array of essential minerals and continues to be incredibly valuable for our health. Today, modern refineries have chemically altered most salt, making it hazardous for human consumption.
Common table salt, “iodized salt“, is a combination of sodium and chloride (a form of chlorine) in equal portions. Table salt is bleached and processed with excessive heat that alters the natural chemical structure and destroys essential trace minerals such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, bromide, to name a few. Hazardous molecules, such as iodine and flouride are added, along with toxic substances like aluminum hydroxide (used as an anti-moisture additive). Table salt is inorganic salt that is useless to the body and will over tax your system. The body must sacrifice tremendous amounts of energy and up to 23 times the cell water to neutralize the damaging effects of the salt. The body’s inability to neutralize these toxic substances results in;

Rheumatism

Arthritis

Gout

Kidney and Gall bladder stones

Cellulite

High blood pressure

Organic sodium is the salt we get from plants and vegetables ( spinach, celery, carrots, strawberries, etc…), and is beneficial to our health.
Sodium builds strength, makes the cells alkaline, and helps other cleansing elements do their job more efficiently. Alkaline foods are most valuable for the person suffering from ailments or illness. Every food that is acidic, or creates an acidic reaction in the body, is bad for the sick person. Coffee, for instance, may have a good taste, but it makes the stomach acidic. People who drink it in excess then wonder why they suffer from nervousness and gas in the stomach! On the other hand, if you take sodium containing foods or drinks in abundance when you are sick, your cells become purified. Sodium acts as a power booster in your body.
Foods rich in sodium are often rich in chlorine and oxygen. Chlorine is the “cleaner” of the body. Sodium neutralizes acids, and chlorine helps carry off impurities. The sodium and chlorine work together creating an inner body soap, to scrub fats out of the cells. This process is called sponification. The process is fueled by the proper quantity and mix of available organic nutrients, including organic salts. Without the process of sponification, your body is unable to break down and assimilate fats.
The more sodium the tissues take up, the more alkaline and stronger they become. Muscular people who eat sodium-rich foods are the strongest people we have. They are strong because they have a great deal of sodium in the tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. If there is a lack of sodium in the joints, the joints crack. This shows that there is too much calcium and a lack of sodium in the joints. Sodium deficiency encourages calcium to emerge from the blood and deposit in the joints. If you eat too much calcium and there is not enough sodium in the system, you are likely to suffer from rheumatism and stiffness.
Gout is a disease that proves conclusively that there is not enough sodium to keep the calcium level in the body, in solution. There are sodium salts in the ear and big toe. Because of the great quantity of calcium in the bones near the ear and big toe, those parts are often calcium deposit sites. Hence, gout begins in the big toe and sometimes the ear. If you suffer from gout, drink distilled water in abundance and fall back on a low calcium diet.
A person who suffers from albuminuria (excess protein in the urine), lacks chlorine and sodium. When sodium runs low it signals malnutrition which may occasionally be associated with tuberculosis. Breathing is difficult without sodium. Lack of sodium results in catarrh, the mucus formed in irritated tissue. If you suffer from catarrh, you need foods that are rich in sodium such as celery, spinach and lettuce.
Sodium deficiency is extremely common in adults. Both hot and cold climates use up sodium salts in the body, in both cases from perspiration. Being in love enables a person to take up more sodium salts. Under favorable emotions, sodium is more rapidly assimilated or utilized. But under unfavorable emotions such as anger or fear, sodium salts are eliminated in urine. This is a great example of how a loving state of mind is beneficial to ones health. Temper, excitement, jealousy and ugly melancholy passions always have an unfavorable, and in many cases, detrimental effect upon the chemistry of the body and upon one’s health. Negative emotions will fill your system with toxins and impurities. The more hot tempered you are, the more sodium you burn and at some point you will suffer from indigestion. If you cultivate love, you will cure your indigestion. The power of the mind!
When sodium is lacking, the nerves are on fire, judgment is unreliable, concentration is poor and there is a greater tendency to sunstroke or heat stroke.
An expectant mother needs calcium, sodium, iron and silicon in abundance because her growing unborn baby uses those salts and a great many others. Morning sickness is an indication of a lack of sodium. Supply an abundant amount of sodium to the pregnant woman, and morning sickness disappears.
Pink salts are one of the few varieties of salts that have remained pure and stable in nature. They regulate cellular fluid balance and are known for their essential trace minerals. These minerals allow for easy absorption and nutrient synergy that exponentially enhances their effect in the body.
The most reputable type of pink salt is Himalayan Salt, although it is also found in Hawaii, Australia, Utah, Peru and Poland. Contrary to popular belief, these salts do not elevate blood pressure. Their ability to regulate fluid balance, allows them to naturally stabilize blood pressure at a healthy, supportive level for the body.
Celtic Sea Salt is also a winner and my personal choice of sodium. It is pure,  delicious, and if you are one to exhaust your adrenals like I do, your levels of sodium will be low. Celtic Sea Salt will replenish your cells and adrenals.
The Benefits of healthy salts will;

Enhance Immune Function

Stabilize Heart Rate and Blood Pressure

Help Balance Blood Sugar

Support Respiratory Health

Promote Bone Strength

Prevent Muscle Cramps

Extract Excess Acidity

Promote Sinus Health

Regulate Sleep and Moods

Support Your Libido

If you are one to crave salt, then most likely you are deficient. A simple blood test will show your sodium level. Think twice before reaching for the processed table salt. If need be, carry a small container of pink Himalayan or Celtic salt with you, so that you are not tempted to use the processed salt. The same goes for the sodium content in our packaged foods. Be Vigilant and Read Labels!!!!
